Jeffrey Kenner, Wife Pay $7.6M for 920 Fifth Ave Co-op

Jeffrey L. Kenner, the founder and CEO of leveraged buyout firm Kenner & Company, and his wife Hyunja Kenner just paid $7.6 million for an 8-room 2 bedroom, 3½ bathroom apartment at 920 Fifth Avenue.

The co-op sold for $1.175 million less than the apartment’s original $8,775,000 list price when it first came on the market in April 2010.

The sellers were Benjamin and Susan Winter, who traded up to a $12 million co-op apartment at 765 Park Avenue earlier this year.

Benjamin chairs the Winter Organization, his century-old family run real estate investment, development and management firm.

Brown Harris Stevens broker and avid bridge player Arline Tarte had the exclusive.

The living rom and dining room have wood-burning fireplaces. The apartment has a library with a loggia off the master bedroom suite to sit and read the paper while the sun shines through the window as the sun rises, or read the Sunday New York Times. and over  over Manhattan’s west side

The apartment also has a maid’s room and a legally permissible washer and dryer. Monthly maintenance in this white-glove building was listed at nearly $7,000.

The apartment boasts a chef’s kitchen with a Sub-Zero refrigerator and Wolf stove.

920 Fifth Avenue is a pet-friendly building that boasts a roof terrace and gym for shareholders. The board does not permit financing.

Noted Fifth Avenue pre-war co-op architect J.E.R. Carpenter erected the building, and lived there for eight years in the 1920’s until he died in 1932.
