Barry Bricken, Clothing Maven, Gets $7M for Park Ave. Coop
After selling his “Barry Bricken” clothing lines to South Carolina-based Berle Manufacturing, the namesake of the former label sold his coop apartment at 1125 Park Avenue for $6,995,00.
According to the mens fashion trade journal DNR, Birken signed a severance agreement with Birken on February 1,, 2008 for “an undisclosed amount and [agreed to] dismantle his non-compete agreement.”
Bricken had a high-floor unit in this sought-after cooperative. What does it have that others lack? Quite a bit, actually:
- A basketball court;
- A racquetball court;
- A health club;
- A playroom;
- A wine cellar;
- Storage bins assigned to shareholders
Plus the usual premium services like 24-hour doormen, a concierge, and — if you’re dog, cat, or goldfish can pass the Co-op Board’s interview — the possibility of having a pet in your apartment.
It appears that this apartment may have been listed by the dynamic mother-daughter team of Michele Kleier and Samantha Kleier Forbes at GumleyHaftKleier.
If so, then Bricken’s apartment was likely a palatial 9 room, 4 bedroom, 4 1/2 bathroom coop boasting more than 3,000 s.f. A virtual tour of the the duo’s listing shows old world charm with extensive dark wood panels throughout the unit.
The buyers are attorneys Steven Eisman and Valerie Feigen. Eisman is a Harvard Law School graduate who works at FrontPoint Partners, a hedge fund that Morgan Stanley acquired in 2006.
Valerie Feigen is a lawyer and graduate of Columbia University Law School graduate.
1125 Park Avenue requires that buyers have at least 50% in cash to buy an apartment in the building. It also has a 2% flip-tax, although it’s unclear whether this is 2% gross (more likely) or 2% net.
